The Julius Hafner Winery is located in the quaint town of Moenchhof, approx. 50 km (35 miles) from Vienna on the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl, Austria's oldest wine growing community.

The Pannonian climate has hot summer days and warm mild days in late fall, which combines with the influence of lake Neusiedl, causing ideal conditions for the production of superior high-quality wines.

We cultivate our vineyards according to the rules of the "Controlled and Integrated Viniculture", whereby conscious reduction in crop yield, maintenance of the ground-balance reserves and a late harvest, ensures the optimum grape quality. We supervise sub-contractors and have contracts
with several vintners to prove quality as well as the possibility of delivering larger quantities!

3 x HIGHEST RATINGS BY "LE GRAND JURY INTERNATIONAL"
"Le Grand Jury International des Vins" - a Jury of wine professionals and its new Wine Guide, published 2002 (worldwide in the French language) were convinced of Hafner's present wine offer! The method of rating was the 20-points-scale (20 = ***** (exceptional); 19 = ****(*); 18 = **** (excellent) as. We received 3 x the highest rating of 20 points (!), 1 x 19/20 and 3 x (18/20). Proudly we noticed that not only our noble sweet specialties like TBA and Ice wine get highest awards. Again we could prove our high quality in red wine making against international competition!

As we have had the highest awarded wine last year, we were able to reach the Gold medal even this year. The Champion 2000 was our TBA Scheurebe from excellent vintage 1995 whilst this year our new TBA Scheurebe 1998 Kosher was successful and proves the continuous high quality of our wines. Moreover the ONLY Austrian red wine this year winning an award was our Zweigelt Barrique Kosher 1999 which received the Silver medal.

During the night of Dec. 22/23 2000, at a temperature of minus -7°C we could harvest the world's FIRST KOSHER ICE WINE! As we are the first Ice-Wine producers of Austria (1971) we are very proud to have done an innovative step again! As the quantities are very limited
